Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your Kalayani Grand Northern Journey begins with a warm welcome from your Kalayani Safaris guide in Arusha. After a short safari briefing, depart for Tarangire National Park, a beautiful wildlife destination known for its ancient baobab trees, large elephant herds, seasonal swamps, and the life-giving Tarangire River.

Upon arrival, begin your first game drive and ease into the rhythm of Tanzania’s wilderness. Tarangire is especially rewarding for elephant sightings, but you may also see giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, impalas, warthogs, waterbucks, and many bird species. With good timing and luck, predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs may also be seen.

Enjoy a picnic lunch during the day, followed by more wildlife viewing in the afternoon. This first day gives you a strong and beautiful introduction to the Northern Circuit. Later, continue to your selected lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, continue toward Lake Manyara National Park, a scenic and compact wildlife destination set at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. The park offers a different atmosphere from Tarangire, with lush groundwater forest, lake views, open grasslands, and beautiful birdlife.

During your game drive, you may encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, baboons, blue monkeys, antelopes, and many species of birds. Lake Manyara is especially known for its rich birdlife, including flamingos when conditions are suitable. The park’s varied habitats make it a rewarding stop for travelers who enjoy scenery as much as wildlife.

Enjoy a relaxed game drive and picnic lunch, then continue to your lodge or camp in the Karatu or Lake Manyara area. The evening is yours to relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the journey toward Serengeti the next day.

Day 3: Lake Manyara Area to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, begin your journey toward Serengeti National Park, one of the most celebrated safari destinations in Africa. The drive takes you through scenic highlands, local landscapes, and changing natural zones, giving you a beautiful sense of movement across Northern Tanzania.

Depending on the route, you may pass through the Ngorongoro highlands before descending toward the Serengeti plains. As the land opens into wide golden horizons, the safari begins to feel even more dramatic. Serengeti is famous for big cats, large herbivore herds, endless plains, and the Great Wildebeest Migration, although excellent wildlife viewing is possible throughout the year.

Enjoy an en-route game drive as you enter the park and continue toward your selected lodge or tented camp. Along the way, you may see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, buffalo, hyenas, and many bird species. Arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight in the Serengeti.

Day 4: Full Day in Serengeti National Park
Today is dedicated to exploring Serengeti National Park, giving you time to experience the depth and beauty of this world-famous wilderness. After an early breakfast, depart for a morning game drive, one of the best times to see wildlife activity and enjoy beautiful light for photography.

Your guide will choose the best routes based on the season, wildlife movement, and recent sightings. You may encounter lions resting near kopjes, cheetahs scanning the plains, leopards hidden in trees, elephants moving quietly, giraffes browsing, and large herds of zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, and buffalo.

A picnic lunch can be enjoyed inside the park, allowing you to continue exploring without losing valuable safari time. In the afternoon, continue your game drive across open plains, river areas, or woodland zones depending on wildlife activity. Return to your lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and a peaceful night in Serengeti.

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Wake up to your final morning in Serengeti and enjoy the calm beauty of the plains before breakfast. Depending on your schedule, you may enjoy a morning game drive as you slowly begin your journey out of the park. This gives you another opportunity to search for wildlife and enjoy the golden morning light across the Serengeti landscape.
After exploring more of the Serengeti, continue toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The journey is scenic and meaningful, passing through open plains, volcanic landscapes, and highland views. Your guide will share insights about wildlife movement, conservation, local communities, and the connection between the Serengeti ecosystem and Ngorongoro landscapes.

As you approach Ngorongoro, the scenery becomes cooler, greener, and more dramatic. Arrive near the crater area in the late afternoon or evening for dinner and overnight at your selected lodge or camp.

During your game drive, you may encounter elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, warthogs, gazelles, lions, and many bird species. With luck, you may also see the rare black rhino. Ngorongoro is one of the best places in Tanzania to see a wide variety of wildlife within a relatively small area.
